Xeomin
Xeomin® is primarily used to reduce the appearance of the wrinkles caused by years of smiling, laughing or frowning. Xeomin® is a prescription medication (Botulinum Toxin Type A) that block the messages between the muscles and the nerves that control them. Xeomin® is compared to The FDA approved the cosmetic use of Botulinum Toxin Type A for the temporary relief of moderate to severe frown/smile lines between the brow (glabellar). Physicians and nurse practitioners may also use Xeomin® “off label” to treat vertical lip lines and horizontal forehead lines.
A very small amount of Xeomin®is injected with a very fine needle into several locations in the face. When injected into a muscle, Xeomin®temporarily weakens or paralyzes the muscle. The procedure takes a few minutes and cause mild pain. Anesthesia is usually not required. The results after treatment are seen within 7-10 days, and last approximately 3 months.
Side Effects
Common side effects you may expirience and typically resolve on their own include tenderness, swelling, firmness, lumps/bumps, bruising, pain, redness, discoloration, and itching.
